A symbol of Venus, the goddess of love, the strawberry with its remarkable shape and red color was used in ancient Rome to mend broken hearts and relieve "symptoms of melancholy".
Judging by the lasting presence of strawberries on ice in all cafes around the world, it turned out to be quite effective.
